Each year, Netball NT selects 17&U and 19&U teams to represent the Northern Territory at the Netball Australia National Netball Championships (NNC), bringing together the country’s emerging netball talent for national-level competition.

The NNC program is an important part of the Netball NT pathway, providing Territory athletes with the opportunity to develop their game, experience a high-performance team environment, and compete against representative teams from every state and territory across Australia.

The program also provides development opportunities for coaches, team managers, umpires, and other officials, supporting the growth of people across all areas of the Territory netball pathway.

Representing the Northern Territory at the National Netball Championships is about more than taking the court. Athletes are challenged to grow individually and as a team, build strong connections, and take pride in representing the Territory on the national stage.

Netball NT would like to thank everyone who nominated for a Head Coach, Assistant Coach, or Team Manager position across our 17&U and 19&U teams.

We appreciate the time and commitment involved in putting forward a nomination, and the willingness of our netball community to contribute to the development of emerging athletes across the Territory.

We are currently reviewing nominations and look forward to confirming our appointed officials in due course.
NNC Phase 1 Trials 
Last year saw a record response to Phase 1 Trials, with athletes nominating across the Northern Territory – the highest number recorded and a great reflection of the emerging talent across our netball community.

This year, Phase 1 Trials will again be held in Alice Springs and Darwin, giving eligible athletes from across the Territory the opportunity to challenge themselves and take the first step towards representing the NT at the National Netball Championships.

Phase 1 Trials will include Skill Development Sessions and Match Play, giving athletes the opportunity to develop and demonstrate their skills in different on-court environments, learn from the experience, and challenge themselves – whether it’s their first time trialling or they’ve been part of the pathway before.

Athlete Nomination Fee | $55 incl. GST (non-refundable)

Payment is required at the time of nomination. If selected in a final NNT team, the $55 nomination fee will be credited towards the athlete’s player contribution.

Athlete Eligibility 
Athletes wishing to nominate for the 2027 NNT 17&U or 19&U National Netball Championships program must meet the eligibility requirements for their nominated age group.

// Meet any applicable residency and previous representation requirements

Athletes are expected to attend all required selection sessions unless an exemption has been approved in accordance with the Netball NT Representative Team Selection Policy.

Resources 

Athlete selections will be conducted in accordance with the Netball NT Representative Team Selection Policy and the applicable Selection Guidelines. All athletes, parents, and carers are encouraged to familiarise themselves with these documents before nominating.

Athletes are expected to attend all selection sessions. If an athlete is unable to attend a selection session due to exceptional circumstances, they may request an exemption from Netball NT.

Exceptional circumstances may include illness or injury, significant family circumstances, education commitments, approved representative commitments, unavoidable travel circumstances, or other circumstances considered reasonable by Netball NT.

Where an athlete cannot be adequately assessed because of their absence, Netball NT may determine an appropriate alternative assessment process. An exemption from attending a selection session does not guarantee selection.
