Territory Storm have completed their 2026 Super Netball Reserves Play-In Tournament campaign, taking valuable experience and confidence into the Super Netball Reserves Finals in Sydney.
The Play-In Tournament saw Storm face fellow non-Super Netball reserve teams Tasmania Wild and ACT Darters, with results determining seeding ahead of the Finals competition. Following the two matches, Storm entered the Finals as the 11th seed and immediately shifted focus to taking on the reserve teams of Australia's Super Netball clubs.
Storm opened their campaign against Tasmania Wild in a thrilling contest that came down to the final moments.
Matching Tasmania throughout much of the match, Storm showed discipline and composure under pressure, remaining within striking distance through strong defensive pressure and accurate Super Shot shooting. After overcoming some early challenges in the third quarter, the team settled into their rhythm and executed Coach Nardia Trevor's focus on "making space and taking space" effectively.
Storm took control during the Super Shot period of the third quarter, converting all four attempts to build momentum heading into the final term. The team continued to provide strong attacking options and defensive pressure throughout the final quarter, narrowly falling 50-49 in the closest match of the tournament.
Less than 24 hours later, Storm returned to the court against ACT Darters, producing another committed performance built on teamwork, determination and growth.
The Northern Territory side made a confident start, converting defensive gains into attacking opportunities and matching the intensity of their opponents through the opening stages. Strong defensive pressure in the second quarter disrupted the Darters' attacking flow, while improved ball movement through the midcourt created scoring opportunities and kept Storm competitive.
Rotations throughout the second half allowed the coaching staff to continue building combinations and provide valuable court time across the squad. Despite the scoreboard pressure, Storm continued to contest every ball and support one another until the final whistle, finishing the match with renewed energy and purpose.
One of the major positives from the Play-In Tournament was the opportunity to utilise the full depth of the Storm squad. Across the two matches, all 14 athletes took the court, gaining valuable national-level experience and showcasing the versatility available within the team.
While the results did not fall Storm's way, the Play-In Tournament provided an important opportunity to build combinations, strengthen connections and test themselves against quality opposition. The experience gained across the two matches has provided a strong foundation as Storm continue their campaign in the Super Netball Reserves Finals against some of the nation's best emerging talent.
