Netball Northern Territory Congratulates Penny Shearer on Appointment as CEO of Netball Tasmania.
Netball Northern Territory is delighted to congratulate Penny Shearer on her appointment as Chief Executive Officer of Netball Tasmania. Penny will depart Netball NT in October, having been a stable, dependable, and highly respected leader for our sport.
Penny joined Netball NT in September 2017 as Pathways Manager before being appointed Executive Officer in June 2022. Throughout her tenure, she has worked tirelessly to grow and strengthen netball across the Northern Territory, fostering opportunities for players, coaches, and officials at all levels.
At the community level, Penny has worked closely with our Member Associations to develop new and exciting pathways for participants across the NT. She has dedicated countless hours courtside, mentoring coaches, supporting players, and championing grassroots netball.
Her commitment to the High-Performance Pathway has created unique opportunities for Territory athletes and officials. She played a pivotal role in re-establishing the Territory Storm and ensuring there is a clear pathway for aspiring athletes, including the creation of the NT Academy team to compete in the Darwin Netball Competition.
“Penny has given above and beyond to Netball in the Northern Territory. She is a true asset to our sporting community and will be greatly missed. Over the past 12 years, Penny has coached numerous state teams and supported countless coaches to reach their potential. On behalf of the NT netball community and my fellow Board members, I extend our sincere thanks to Penny and wish her every success in Tasmania,” said Catherine Sansom, Chair of Netball NT.
While her time with Netball Northern Territory is drawing to a close, we look forward to seeing Penny continue her advocacy for netball in her new role in Tasmania. The recruitment process to appoint her successor is now underway.
