With a growing multicultural community in Alice Springs, Alice Springs Netball Association decided to host their first Multicultural round on Saturday, 6th of August at the Pat Gallagher Netball Centre.
ASNA’s recently developed Strategic Plan for 2022-2026 places an emphasis on representing the local community and providing a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all members. 2021 census data revealed that 26.8% of the Alice Springs population is born overseas and ASNA are seeing an ever expanding, culturally diverse membership base.
“Multicultural Round serves as a day to promote and celebrate the numerous cultures we have in the netball community as well as the wider Alice Springs Community” says Jay Scott-Hunter, General Manager ASNA.
With events such as traditional dance by Desert Paradise group (South Pacific Dance Group), Indonesian food served by the Alice Springs Indonesian community and Netball, it was truly a multicultural experience in the spirit of Netty and the community.
Netball NT congratulates ASNA on such a wonderful initiative. Netball is for everyone, and we want to continue to provide opportunities for all communities to enjoy our sport
