Netball Northern Territory (NT) is one step closer to the National Netball Championships as Phase 1 selections took place over the weekend in Alice Springs and Darwin.
Taking place in June in Tasmania, the National Netball Championship is an underage representative tournament that showcases emerging talent from each state and is a crucial stage of the Netball Australia player pathway.
"We had a large turnout overall this year with some players flying in from as far as Gove, demonstrating the level of commitment of those trialling this year." Stated Netball NT Pathways Manager, Penny Shearer.
Players that trialled hailed from regions including Alice Springs, Darwin, Gove and Palmerston with over 60 nominations.
"There is some exciting and new talent coming through which will see the selectors have their work cut out fro them". Stated Shearer.
A squad will be selected for both ages categories in the coming days and be invited to Phase 2 selections held from the 16th - 18th of April.
