Netball NT who hosts this yearly carnival worked closely with Aboriginal artist Emma Leah Lewis to create this artwork.
Emma Leah Lewis who is a 16-year-old aboriginal artist from Tennant Creek was selected to design this piece. Through the creation of this work, Emma Leah has helped showcase Aboriginal culture and art in a positive way and has played a significant role in helping Indigenous netballers feel proud of their culture.
“The flags symbolize my proud Aboriginal heritage while the three big circles weave together to show oneness. The netball in the middle showcases how the sport is a big part of the society and how the carnival emphasizes teamwork, respect, and pride. The strength of standing together is powerful and we are stronger together “Emma adds.
